As promoters and event organizers, Supercolorsuper is the first to import international independent acts on to the South Korean scene. This crew is always right on the mark when it comes to emerging movements, and they're creating their own pulse with their superb taste in art and music to organise parties that stay true to Seoul's most unique nights.

Hi Sean. Can you tell us how SUPERCOLORSUPER got started?
I was playing shows around Korea and Asia for my project ssighborgggg and started adjusting some little things at shows the way I liked them, then I started organizing entire shows, then tours, all in a better than they were before.
Tell us about your DIY circuit.
It's mostly made up of people I cornered at some party or concert, then ranted at about all these ideas I had until they just agreed to go along with it.
What makes SUPERCOLORSUPER different from the rest?
In Korea especially, I think we are a bit more chaotic than other things going on here. We'll take the chance to pick up strange projects and bands that are a huge risk money wise.
Which bands have you brought to Seoul?
Over 40. I kinda don't want to do that thing I'll always do where I name the most popular bands but here's a list.
Some of the coolest venues you have found for your shows?
I'm still really into this modern dance hall called Theater Zero and Platoon is a cool space.
Newest music movements happening in Seoul now?
There's 2 or 3 Grindcore bands cropping up, still a lot of shoegaze.
Some of the best acts in S.Korea now?
Vidulgi Ooyoo, Ankle Attack, (((10))), Wagwak
Your favourit bar in Seoul?
I like one club called Gopchang Jeongol that only plays Korean rock & psyche off vinyl from the 60's-80's. Strange Fruit has its charm too.
Favourite eateries?
There are a million awesome BBQ places in Korean, too many good ones. Anyone visiting Korea will get their guns blazing on the food.
Any special, hidden spaces or bars that we should know about? Gotchang Gomtcheol is rad. Exit Bar in Hongdae is a little alley spot that is a Fracas. Obeg is a cave bar with a Flintstones vibe. There are some Dog Cafes with dogs everywhere, cat cafes, sheep, and fish. You can sit in a pool with little fish that eat your skin while drinking coffee.
Most unique booking so far?
Zach Hill was ripping his drum set to pieces. Caribou and Do Make Say Think were overwhelming to catch up close. Coco Rosie had an amazingly strange setup that worked well, a grand piano, harp, beat boxer.
